Saunders held various positions at Medway Secure Training Centre (STC) for [[G4S]] between 2002 and 2012.

* Deputy Director and Head of Youth Offending Services, 2005 to 2007

He became Director in 2007. This role involved "Providing strategic and tactical advice, leadership and support to all aspects of the STC contract, ensuring consistent service delivery within contractual and financial parameters and ensuring security, safety and control within the custodial environment."

Saunders advised the "Prime Minister’s Special Advisors at 10 Downing Street on Looked After Children in the Youth Justice System." He was "G4S Children’s Services Restraint Leader and Physical Control in Care Instructor." He advised in the "Independent Restraint Review 2008 Smallridge & Williamson".

===Gatwick immigration removal centres===
Saunders became Director for [[G4S]] of the Gatwick immigration removal centres in 2012. The Gatwick 'cluster' often refers to [[Brook House IRC]], [[Tinsley House IRC]] and [[Cedars PDA]]. Children can be detained at both Tinsley and Cedars.
