William Rickett is the former director general at the Department of Energy and Climate Change.

He is now a non-executive director to many energy companies, including; Eggborough Power Ltd, Greencoat UK Wind Plc and Cambridge Economic Policy Associates Ltd.

Career

Rickett joined the Department of Energy in 1975, worked as private secretary to Margaret Thatcher when she was prime minister, he led the privatisation of the electricity industry from 1987 to 1990, was head of the energy efficiency office in 1993 and director general, energy at the Department of Energy and Climate Change between 2006 and 2009. He also worked for a time on secondment at Kleinwort Benson Ltd and Ernst & Young LLP.[1][2]

He is now working as a non-executive director to energy companies Eggborough Power Ltd, Helius Energy Plc, Greencoat UK Wind Plc, Smart DCC Ltd, Impax Environmental Markets Plc and Cambridge Economic Policy Associates Ltd.[1]
