Tina Stowell, Baroness Stowell of Beeston, has been a UK Conservative Party peer since January 2011.[1] She was Leader of the House of Lords and the Lord Privy Seal until July 2016.
In January 2018 she was named as the preferred candidate to be appointed as the Charity Commission chair following an open recruitment exercise. [2]
Political career
In May 2015, Stowell, who had been leader of the House of Lords since 2014, was promoted to a full cabinet post on a full cabinet salary.
In July 2016, during new Prime Minister Theresa May's extensive cabinet reshuffle, Stowell was replaced by Baroness Natalie Evans in her role as leader of the House of Lords. [3]
Stowell was appointed as parliamentary under secretary at the Department for Communities and Local Government in October 2013.[4] In July 2014 she was appointed leader of the House of Lords and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster,[5] replacing Lord Hill of Oareford when he was appointed as Britain’s European commissioner.
