Tariq Ahmad, Baron Ahmad of Wimbledon

Tariq Ahmad (Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon) is a Conservative member of the House of Lords. He was appointed as parliamentary under secretary of state for the Department for Communities and Local Government in July 2014[1] and under secretary in the Home Office in 2015, joint with the Department for Transport.[2]

Background

Ahmad served as a party whip before being appointed to government.

He was vice-chairman of the Conservative Party between 2008 and 2010 with responsibility for cities. He served as a councillor for Wimbledon Park and as a cabinet member in the London Borough of Merton between 2002 to 2012.[1]
