Sholto Byrnes

Sholto Byrnes is a former British journalist, now a senior fellow at the Malaysian government-funded Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) and as weekly columnist for The National in Abu Dhabi.

Background

Byrnes has worked as a journalist for over 20 years, including on the Independent, as a senior editor at the New Statesman and as editor of Qatar Foundation's quarterly international magazine.

In 2014 he took up a position as a senior fellow at Malaysia's Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS).

Byrnes has a BA and MA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Balliol College, Oxford University, and has been a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts since 2009. [1]

Affiliations

According to reports Byrne was working with Paul Stadlen on the communications team of the Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak.
