SRF was formed in 1996. It is the main renewables trade association and lobby group for Scotland and is closely linked to the British Wind Energy Association.

It promotes Scotland as an ideal location for renewable energy development and espouses

a vision of the “win-win” potential of renewables to create jobs and prosperity for Scotland, as well as safeguarding the environment, to encourage the adoption of targets and strategies which make the best use of our indigenous resources.[1]
