An SIS Tel Aviv Station was established by the Secret Intelligence Service following Israeli independence shortly after Nigel Clive's cover had been blown in Jerusalem. it was initially under hostile surveillance and effective liaison was not established until the mid-1950s, when Britain and Israel perceived a common threat from Egypt's President Gamal Nasser.[1]
