Robert Philpot is a former special adviser, now working as director of Progress, an independent organisation of Labour party members, which aims to promote a radical and progressive politics. Philpot is the editor of its monthly magazine.

Philpot was a special adviser to Peter Hain (MP) from 2006 to 2007 during his time as Northern Ireland secretary. He was also special adviser to Tessa Jowell from 2008 to 2010 during her time as minister for the Olympics and minister for the Cabinet Office. [1]

Before joining Progress, Philpot was a graduate teaching assistant at Brunel University, teaching American politics and history. [1]
