Rae Stewart is the director of communications at the Department of Energy and Climate Change.

Career

Stewart was Westminster correspondent for STV from 2000 until 2009.

Between 2009 and 2010 he was head of communications for the Iraq Inquiry.

In 2009 he was also handed his first role in government, as chief press officer in the Cabinet Office, before being appointed press secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, between May 2010 and November 2010. He was head of news at The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, November 2010 to September 2011 and head of news and external communications, September 2011 until December 2013.

In December 2013 he was appointed director of communications at The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, December 2013 to September 2014.

He is now director of communications at The Department of Energy and Climate Change,[1] replacing Arthur Leathley. He will be responsible for "setting overall strategy for the department’s internal and external communications including campaigns, media, correspondence, stakeholder relationships, partnerships and digital."[2]
