R. Nicholas Burns (born January 28, 1956) is Professor of the Practice of Diplomacy and International Politics at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government, and director of the Aspen Strategy Group. He was formerly Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs during the second Bush administration.[1]

Burns serves on the board of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, also at Harvard. He also sits on the boards of the Center for a New American Security, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and the Atlantic Council of the United States.
