Philip Davidson was one of a number of senior RUC officers killed in the 1994 Mull of Kintyre Chinook crash According to the Guardian, he was "was tipped as a possible future head of Special Branch. In Belfast he co-ordinated operations between departments."[1] According to Statewatch he was the head of the [E3, RUC Special Branch|E3] division within RUC Special Branch.[2]
