Philip Bowman[1]

Philip Bowman was appointed Chief Executive of Smiths Group plc in December 2007. He previously held the positions of Chief Executive at Scottish Power from 16 January 2006 until mid 2007 and Chief Executive at Allied Domecq between 1999 and July 2005, previously group finance director from December 1998 to July 1999 .[1]

As of 2011 he is currently the senior independent director of Burberry Group plc. Past board appointments include British Sky Broadcasting Group plc, Scottish & Newcastle Group plc and Coles Myer Limited as well as Chairman of Liberty plc and Coral Eurobet plc. His earlier career includes five years as a director of Bass plc (now Mitchells & Butler plc and Intercontinental Hotel Group plc), where he held the roles of Chief Financial Officer and subsequently Chief Executive of Bass Taverns.[1]
