In the May 2015 general election, Peter Grant overturned a previous Labour Party majority of 16,448, to be elected as the Scottish National Party MP for Glenrothes and Central Fife. Grant defeated closest competitor Melanie Ward with a majority of 13,897. [1]

Previously, Grant was leader of Fife Council between 2007 and 2012 and has been a councillor in Glenrothes for the past 23 years. [2] He will stand down as leader due to his success in the election but will remain as a councillor.
