Open Republic Institute

The Open Republic Institute is a member of the Economic Freedom Network (EFN), which is a network of institutions who collectively publish the Annual Economic Freedom of the World Report.

Based in Ireland the Open Republic Institute works in accordance with many institutions worldwide. Institutions such as TIGRA the Austrian think tank; The Institute of Public Affairs in Australia; The Fraser Institute in Canada; and the Cato Institute in the USA.

The purpose of the Open Republic Institute is “to create awareness of the role played by markets and private institutions — for example, businesses, the Internet, charitable organisations, the family and religion — in meeting economic and social challenges� (Open Republic Institute, www.openrepublic.org). It is interested in all public policy areas where markets or institutions with voluntary membership can play a role."It is an educational organisation providing access for policy-makers and the general public to new non-government and non-vested interest centred policy thought and debate"(www.openrepublic.org).


The ORI is not a representative nor political body, it also does not possess any corporate body views of its own.

The ORI does not receive any support from the state, it is a non-profit organisation which receives funds from private investors.
