Nick Palmer was the Labour Party MP for Broxtowe from 1997 until 2010. He was parliamentary private secretary (PPS) in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs until April 2005. He then became PPS to the Minister of State, Malcolm Wicks, first in the Department of Trade and Industry and later in the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform until 2008. [1]

Palmer was one of fourteen MP's who were given large payoffs when they lost their seats in 2010. Despite being given a payoff of £54,403, Palmer has been recalled by the Labour Party and will be standing for the Broxtowe constituency in the 2015 general election. [2]
