Natalie Bennett
Natalie Bennett is the leader of the UK Green Party and a parliamentary candidate in Holborn and St Pancras.
History
Born in Sydney, Bennett has lived in London since 1999. She has a degree in agricultural science from the University of Sydney.
She started her career as a journalist in New South Wales and has worked for the Bangkok Post, the Telegraph, the Independent, the Time and as editor of Guardian Weekly.
Bennett spent two years in Bangkok working with the National Commission on Women's Affairs on its report to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women, she has also worked as a consultant with the International Labor Organisation on child labour issues and World Health Organisation on women's health.
She served as the internal communications coordinator for the Green Party from 2007 to 2010 and was elected leader of the party in September 2012.[1]
Bennett stood in the 2010 General Election as the Green Party candidate in Holborn and St Pancras, coming fourth with 2.7 percent of the vote. The seat has been held by Labour MP Frank Dobson since 1977, however Dobson will not be standing in the 2015 General Election where Bennett will be seeking election.[2]
