Michael Slack joined the Financial Services Authority Board in December 2004. He is currently the Chairman of the Fyfe Group and a Director of the British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA).

Michael joined the insurance industry in 1960. He then spent 11 years with an insurance company and started his own insurance brokerage in 1980 from which he launched various niche market specialist insurance products.

Michael was a director of the Institute of Insurance Brokers (IIB) for 6 years and a nationally elected member of the Insurance Brokers' Registration Council (IBRC) for 11 years. He was also on the Board of the General Insurance Standards Council (GISC) for six years and was founder and Chairman of the Association of Insurance Intermediaries & Brokers (Aiib).[1]
