Maxime Verhagen (dob: 14 September 1956) is Dutch politician and former Deputy Prime Minister of the Netherlands. He is a member of the Christian Democratic Appeal party. Verhagen is a vocal supporter of Israel and a supporter of the Dutch Christian Zionist organisation Christians for Israel. He has written for the newsletter of the latter organisation.[1] In January 2009 Verhagen visited the southern Israeli town of Sderot - reportedly as a 'gesture of solidarity with its residents'.[1] He refused to visit Gaza.[1]
