Mark Wallace is a senior account manager at Portland and previously worked for the right-wing single issue think tank the Taxpayers' Alliance.

Career

Mark joined Portland as a Senior Account Manager in 2010. Prior to the move, he was Campaign Director at the TaxPayers’ Alliance, managing national campaigns and a busy press office for one of the UK’s most high profile pressure groups.
Experienced in dealing with national and regional media and a wide range of different issues, his campaigns for the TPA included national cinema advertising, high profile media stunts and a national “Debt Clock” tour during the 2010 General Election. He has dealt extensively with long-term campaigns, set piece media opportunities, proactive and reactive PR and specialises in generating creative media ideas.

Mark’s broadcast credits include Newsnight, the Today Programme, the Jeremy Vine Show, BBC Breakfast, ITV News at Ten, Sky News and CNBC. [1]

In a piece written for PR Week in June 2011 Wallace declared his love for think-tanks and campaigning organisations, although recognising that "the line between the two was becoming increasingly blurred":

"But I still think that my perceptions are accurate when I say that the importance of these groups has never been higher. They exert influence upon, and provide room to debate for, the leading lights within the coalition Government. And their importance should not be overlooked by those working in public relations.
Think-tanks are changing minds at the heart of our national debate."

He highlighted the influence of several right-wing and free-market think tanks such as the Taxpayers' Alliance, The Freedom Association, Adam Smith Institute, Institute for Economic Affairs and Policy Exchange and Politaea.
