Professor Mark Bellis is co-chair of the Westminster Department of Health Responsibility Deal Alcohol Network. His research centres on substance abuse, sexual health and public health intelligence. Bellis is director of the Centre for Public Health based at Liverpool John Moores University, the North West Public Health Observatory and the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the National Collaborating Centre for Drug Prevention.   • Expert advisor for European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA)
  • Lead academic for the UK Drugs Focal Point and IREFREA - a European Union collaborative examining substance use (alcohol and drugs), sexual risk taking and prevention in young people
  • Board member of Alcohol Concern
  • Founder of Club Health an international initiative sharing good practice on night-life health
  • Currently working with the World Health Organization (WHO) on the prevention of alcohol-related violence as the English representative on the WHO Violence Prevention Alliance
