He is the Executive Director of the New Local Government Network (NLGN) and the Executive Director of the Public Management Foundation, both of which support an increase in private-sector involvement in Local Government. The NLGN has been described as pushing "anti-democratic measures on behalf of private interests" and is funded to the tune of £500,00 a year by companies that include Amec, Jarvis, Sodexho and Serco, all of which have won major NHS contracts.
