Joyce Quin a former Labour Party politician was MP for Gateshead East from 1987 to 1997 and then Gateshead East and Washington West from 1997 to 2005. [1]
Quin held a variety of ministerial roles whilst in parliament, serving in particular as minister of state in the Home Office, minister for Europe in the Foreign Office and as minister in the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. [2]
When she retired from the House of Commons in 2005 Quin was appointed to the House of Lords, taking on the title of Baroness Quin of Gateshead, in 2006. [2]
