Rear Admiral John Tolhurst (born 22 April 1943) was commanding officer of the HM ships Berwick, Exeter and Invincible, assistant director of naval warfare in the Ministry of Defence, as well as Naval Aide-de-Camp to HM The Queen.

On retiring from active service in 1997 Tolhurst was appointed senior military adviser to the head of Defence Export Services Organisation (DESO). He also acted as senior defence consultant to Reed Exhibitions Defence, Aerospace Group and Spearhead Exhibitions, and was chairman of the biennial Defence Systems and Equipment International Exhibition and Conference (DSEi).

In 2007 he was a director of Strategic Communication Laboratories [1]
