John Armitage is the co-founder of the hedge fund Egerton Capital, which he set up in 1994 with William Bollinger. Bollinger, who was chief executive, retired in 2005. Today Egerton holds around $8.7 billion in assets. [1]

EU Remain campaign backer

In 2016 Armitage emerged as a donor to Britain Stronger in Europe, the lead 'remain' group campaigning for British voters to choose to stay in the European Union in a June 2016 referendum on the UK's membership. [2]
