Jim McGovern was the Labour Party member of Parliament (MP) for Dundee West from 2005 to 2015. He was re-elected in 2010 with a majority of 7,278.

In April 2015 McGovern announced he would not be standing in the 2015 general election, citing ill health as his reason for withdrawing.[1] McGovern was replaced by Michael Marra who lost the seat to the Scottish National Party's Chris Law by 17,092 votes.[2]
