Jacynthe Cote became CEO of Rio Tinto Alcanin 2009, replacing industry veteran Dick Evans. Previously she was plants manager at Alcan's Lynemouth smelter in England and ran the Bauxite and Alumina division of Alcan before they merged with Rio Tinto[1].

Big bonuses

In 2009 Cote recieved a $2.2 million bonus plus $813,000 in base salary, as well as long term and non-monetary benefits.Rio Tinto made $4.872 billion profits in 2009,up from its 2008 figure of $3.67 billion. In the same the company also reduced its workdorce by 14,000 including 1,100 aluminum jobs[2].
