Ivor Caplin (born 08 November 1958, Brighton) is a former UK defence minister and the former Labour MP for Hove.

After the 2001 election he joined the government payroll as an assistant whip and was appointed junior defence minister in June 2003. He kept his ministerial position until April 2005.[1]

He now runs his own company, Ivor Caplin Consultancy, which he set up in August 2005. [2]

Providing insights into government

Caplin is a senior consultant to lobbying firm Foresight Communications, whose clients include EADS, EDS and Sodexho. His biography on its website states that he is 'able to offer Foresight's clients genuine insights into the workings of the Government'. [3]

Affiliations

  • Mayfair Capital Management -from July 2009 was CEO as part of a two-year contract which ended at the end of 2010. Remains a senior business adviser. Describes it as a 'private group of companies covering construction/energy and acquisition mainly but not exclusively in the Middle East and Africa.' [4]
