Iain Mackay is the group finance director of HSBC Holdings plc.

Career

A chartered accountant, Mackay has worked at many of the worlds largest and most powerful financial institutions. In the early part of his career Mackay worked for PriceWaterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers); KMG and Thomson McLintock; from 1990 to 1996 he was in the finance and audit divisions of Schlumberger Dowell and later was appointed finance director for Europe and Africa and South-East Asia; and from 1996 to 2007 he worked at General Electric in the US, first as controller of the global consumer finance unit, chief financial officer of the consumer finance division and finally chief financial officer of the healthcare division.


Mackay joined HSBC in July 2007, first as chief financial officer of HSBC North America Holdings plc. From September 2009 to December 2010 he was chief financial officer, Asia-Pacific, of HSBC Holding plc. In December 2010 he was appointed group finance director of HSBC Holdings plc.[1]
