Barry / Desmond Loader is the cipher given to a former Special Demonstration Squad undercover officer who was deployed into Communist Party of England (Marxist-Leninist) from 1976 to 1978. Their cover name is due to be released by the Undercover Policing Inquiry.[1] He was twice prosecuted for public order offences in his cover name and convicted once. However, according to the Inquiry Chair, John Mitting, there is no known allegation of misconduct during the deployment. The officers is now deceased.[2]
