Giles Wilkes is Special Adviser to Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills Vincent Cable.[1]

Background

After graduating from Oxford in politics, philosophy and economics, Wilkes spent a brief period in publishing before ten years working in various roles at IG Group. He has an MBA from the London Business School and in 2006 acquired a Masters in Global History from the London School of Economics.[2]

Wilkes is on the advisory board of the Economic Policy Centre.[3]

Prior to his position in Vince Cable's office, Wilkes was Chief Economist at the self-described "liberal" think-tank CentreForum.[4]

On the 25th May 2010, Wilkes posted to his blog: "This is the last post on this blog until further notice. I have unexpectedly been offered an advisory position to the new government".[5]
