Emily Walch, a senior consultant at lobbying firm Blue Rubicon, was appointed as Vince Cable's special adviser in April 2012.

As special adviser to Mr Cable, Walch is paid an annual salary of £60,000. [1]

Background

Walch previously worked as Brian Paddick's press secretary during the London Mayoral election in 2008, and has been a senior press officer for the London Assembly Liberal Democrats (2006-07). [2]

She also worked as head of office for Menzies Campbell, Leader of the Liberal Democrats (2005-6); as welsh policy adviser for the Liberal Democrats (2005). She began her career as a parliamentary researcher in 2003. [3]

Walch holds an MPhil in European Studies from the University of Cambridge (2003) and a BA Hons in History of Art from the University of Warwick (2002).
