The Conservative Party Foundation is a fundraising enterprise managed by the Conservative Party which was established in 2005 and officially launched by Lady Thatcher and Sir John Major in May 2009 to 'support the Conservative Party financially in the long-term'.

It was set-up to receive legacies free of inheritance tax. While an integral part of the Conservative family, the Foundation is a separate company with an independent Board of Directors.

The capital raised by the Foundation is placed in an endowment fund. This means that Benefactors' gifts are ring-fenced and remain forever for the benefit of the Party.[1]

Board

The Foundation's Board of Directors are responsible for managing and appropriately investing the fund. The capital can only be given to the Party in a controlled way, especially to support it during election periods.

Michael Spencer (Chairman), George Magan (Deputy Chairman), Mark Bamford, Andrew Feldman (Conservative Party Co-Chairman), Stanley Fink (Conservative Party Treasurer), David Ord, Lord Saatchi, Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover, The Marquess of Salisbury
