Colin Renfrew is 'a prominent archaeologist and highly regarded academic, best known for his work on the prehistoric Aegean, radiocarbon dating and the prehistory of languages.' [1]
He was created a life peer in the House of Lords in 1991. He was given the title Lord Renfrew of Kaimsthorn when he became a Conservative member of the Lords. [2]
