Clare Foges is a former speechwriter for UK prime minister David Cameron from 2009 tuntil after the 2015 general election.[1] She is praised with drafting his much anticipated speech on Europe in January 2013.

She is now a columnist for The Times.

Background

Foges first worked in the Westminster office of John Hayes (MP for South Holland and The Deepings) in 2006. She went on to work full-time on Boris Johnson’s mayoral campaign. [2]

Foges went to a comprehensive school, gaining a first in English at Southampton University before studying for her Masters in Poetry at Bristol. [3]

As Cameron's speechwriter Foges was paid an annual salary of £70,000. [4]
