This category covers research in, and commercial aspects of, human genetics, stem cells, human genetic engineering, and gene therapy. It raises great controversy because of ethical issues involved in "designer babies", human germline genetic engineering (where changes made to the DNA are inheritable), the patenting - and thus the commodification and commercialisation - of human DNA and tissues, and "medical apartheid".
