Biochemical Society is said to have been founded to advance the molecular and cellular biosciences, both as an 'academic discipline and to promote its impact on areas of science including biotechnology, agriculture, and medicine.' [1]

The Society is one of four owner societies who work together at the Charles Darwin House in order to create a 'national hub' for their subject. [1]
