The Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI) is the industry association for the medical technology sector in the UK. It represents over 200 companies whose output makes up for around 85 percent of the industry’s total.[1] [2]. Association of British Healthcare Industries has over 200 members in UK representiong medical technology sector. ABHI is also champion industry to the Government, NHS, regulators and stakeholders. [1].

It was formed 20 years ago 'to address industry’s need to engage with the fast moving regulatory landscape and to support UK companies export their products around the world'. Its purpose is 'to promote the rapid adoption of medical technologies to ensure optimum patient outcomes throughout the UK and in key global markets'.[1]

PR agency Weber Shandwick carries out PR and lobbying for the ABHI.[3]

People

He has over 28 years of experience in sales marketing and general managment in the UK and Ireland Moreover, Peter Ellingworth worked as Vice president for UK and Ireland Leading Medical Device Comapany Convatec between 2001-2008. He has been an active member for Surgical Dressing Manufacturers Association, British Healthcare Trade Association, The Drug Traffic Forum and chairman of the AdvaMed UK Working Group

Membership

Membership is open to manufacturers as well as service companies involved in the sector, such as distributors, professional groups and lawyers.[1]

Affiliations

It is an active member of the Medical Technology Group (MTG)
