Ashley Lumsden was appointed in April 2014 as a special adviser to business secretary Vince Cable for the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.[1] Lumsden has continued to serve as a backbench Liberal Democrat councillor, representing Streatham Hill. [2]

Background

Lumsden was a political consultant for the Greater London Authority for two years between 2012 and 2014. Before this, Lumsden was leader of the London Borough of Lambeth Liberal Democrat Group for seven years. [3]

Lumsden was a London Agent for the Liberal Democrats between 1999 and 2012. In May 2002 Lumsden took up the role of executive member for finance at the London Borough of Lambeth for four years. He was also the Chair of the Pension Fund for the London Borough of Lambeth. [3]

Education

Lumsden obtained a degree in Mathematics from Imperial College London in 1996. [3]
