Background

Griffiths first embarked on a career in politics in 1999 when he joined the West Midlands MEP team in the European Parliament in Brussels. Within this team he was appointed adviser on farming, working for the European agricultural spokesman Neil Parish. [1]

In 2004 Griffiths returned to Westminster to work for the shadow cabinet, as chief of staff to Theresa May, where he worked on environment, transport and later family policy. In 2006, he then moved to work for the Department for Culture, Media & Sport , working as chief of staff to MP Hugo Swire. [2]

After that Griffiths went to work for Eric Pickles, the then shadow secretary of state for communities and local government, as chief of staff focusing on community cohesion and local government matters. [2]
