Andrew Griffiths, MP for Burton

Andrew Griffiths is the UK Conservative Party MP for Burton. [1] He was elected in May 2010 with a majority vote of 6,304. [2] In the May 2015 general election, Griffiths retained his seat with an increased majority of 11,252. [3]


Background

Griffiths' career in politics began in 1999 when he joined the West Midlands MEP team in the European Parliament in Brussels. He was appointed adviser on farming for European agricultural spokesman Neil Parish. [2]

In 2004 Griffiths returned to Westminster to work for the shadow cabinet as chief of staff to Theresa May, where he worked on environment, transport and later family policy. In 2006, he then moved to work for the Department for Culture, Media & Sport, working as chief of staff to MP Hugo Swire. [4]

After that Griffiths worked for Eric Pickles, the then shadow secretary of state for communities and local government, as chief of staff focusing on community cohesion and local government matters. [4]
