Alice Perkins is a former civil servant, working in the Department of Health and Social Security, the Treasury and the Cabinet Office. She is currently chairman of the Post Office Ltd and an associate at JCA Group.

Alice Perkins is married to the former home secretary Jack Straw.

Parliament

Perkins joined the civil service fast stream in 1971, starting in the Department of Health and Social Security, before moving to the Treasury as director of public spending, focusing on the intelligence agencies, aid, foreign office and agriculture spending. In 1998 she returned to the Department of Health and Social security as director general for corporate management. In 2001 she moved to the Cabinet Office as director general, corporate development group.

She has served as non-executive director on the board of Littlewoods, 1997-2001, chair of the remuneration committee at TNS from 2005 until its takeover by WPP in 2008, been a member of the board of BAA and a former member of the business advisory council of the Saïd Business School of the University of Oxford.

She is currently chairman of the Post Office Ltd, an associate at JCA Group a member of Meyler Campbell and a member of the council of the University of Oxford.[1]

In 2014 she joined the BBC executive board as a non-executive director.[2]

ACOBA

  • She was given "unconditional approval" by ACOBA to join the JCA Group in October 2006.[3]
