Alex Chisholm became permanent secretary for the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) in September 2016. [1] He previously served as the permanent secretary for the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) from May 2016, before the department merged with the Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) to form BEIS in July 2016.
