Stephen Lewis Rickard was an MI5 officer killed in the Mull of Kintyre Chinook crash.[1]

Intelligence writer Stephen Dorril claims Rickard was the Director and Co-ordinator of Intelligence (Northern Ireland) at the time of his death.[2] Christopher Andrew's official history of MI5 appears to imply that John Deverell was DCI at the time of the crash, although this could be an ambiguous reference to an earlier post.[3] Other reports suggest that Deverell was a Deputy Director General of MI5, which would appear to support Dorril's account.[4]
