Chris de Lapuente Vice-president and managing director, Procter & Gamble UK

‘Mr de Lapuente is a fine example of someone working his way right through the company. His rise to become head of P&G UK followed a degree in economics from Buckingham University. His avowed qualities for the top are "a passion for the brands and a passion for winning."’[43]

‘Like his arch-rival, Niall Fitzgerald of Unilever, Mr de Lapuente was invited along with the elite of British business to a recent Chequers summit with the prime minister, Tony Blair. At the meeting he urged the government to go out and state the case for the single currency to overcome public scepticism.’[44]

Unilever co-chairman FitzGerald and Procter & Gamble vice-president de Lapuente have recently been named as the two most powerful marketers in the UK.

In the ‘Links with Government’ section you can find extracts from an interview with Chris de Lapuente (February 2001) in which he touches upon some specific issues relating to the UK. In that interview he also reveals that the most satisfying part of his job is "seeing the business grow."
