Mubadala

Mubadala is a sovereign wealth fund of the Government of Abu Dhabi which specialises in buyout investments.

It is run by chief executive and managing director Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, an Emirati entrepreneur.

Mubadala is described as 'supporting the diversification of the United Arab Emirates by investing in key social infrastructure and creating globally integrated industry sectors in Abu Dhabi'.

Tony Blair advises on Mubadala mining deal with Guinea

Between 2011 and 2013 former British prime minister Tony Blair visited Guinea at least seven times, working as an adviser to the president of Guinea, Alpha Conde. He helped Guinea sign a £3 billion mining deal with Mubadala a company which Blair also advises.[1]

Entertaining UK minister at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

In November 2013 UK treasury minister Lord Paul Deighton attended the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as a guest of Mubadala.[2]

John Browne and Mubadala Oil and Gas

Former UK government adviser and BP CEO John Browne was the international advisory board chairman of Mubadala Oil and Gas, a company owned by the government of Abu Dhabi, which says it has signed an agreement with Somalia's government to help it find oil. When the Wall Street Journal asked about his role in 2014, Lord Browne declined to comment. Mubadala is not declared in his register of interests.[3]

Funding think tanks

Mubadala is listed on the US Atlantic Council's website 'Honor Roll of Contributors' as having given between $100,000- $249,000 in donations in the 2016 fiscal year. [4]
