On Israel

Mathiopoulos is a strong defender of Israel describing its 2006 invasion of Lebanon in the International Herald Tribune as an 'inevitable reaction to Hezbollah's provocations' and bending over backwards to understand how 'Israel's response was both in character and by its lights, moderate'[3]In her piece she also repeats the well known propaganda claim of President Ahmedinejad of Iran's 'repeated calls for Israel's destruction'.[4]
