Lee Cain

Lee Cain is a former Fleet Street journalist turned political spin doctor. He was appointed incoming UK prime minister Boris Johnson’s head of communications in July 2019.

Cain was previously head of political press in Number 10 Downing Street from August 2017 and a press aide to Johnson during his stint as foreign secretary at the FCO from November 2017. He also worked for Johnson's successful Conservative party leadership campaign in 2019.

Cain is also a former special adviser to UK environment secretary Michael Gove and his predecessor Andrea Leadsom at Defra. Leadsom was appointed the new energy secretary in July 2019.

In 2016 Cain was the Vote Leave campaign’s head of broadcast.

Dressed as a chicken while taunting Tories

According to former colleagues at the Mirror, Cain 'used to dress up as Tory-ridiculing Mirror Chicken' while working at the paper in 2010. [1]
