Laura Kyrke-Smith

Laura Kyrke-Smith is an account director for Portland Communications on its 'Government Advisory team'. She joined Portland from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office where she worked as a speech-writer to former Ministers of State for Africa Lord Malloch-Brown and Baroness Kinnock. She also previously worked as a Policy Analyst in the FCO’s Strategy Unit.

Laura plays a lead role in Portland’s reputation management and communications capacity-building work for overseas governments. She also works with Portland’s other international clients. [1]

Laura Kyrke-Smith was a research assistant on the Foreign Policy Centre's Public Diplomacy programme, and now works as assistant to the director of Polis, the journalism and society think tank at the LSE. She is studying part-time for her MSc in International Relations at the London School of Economics, and is due to graduate in 2007. Laura previously worked for the British Council in Tanzania, as well as spending time in Russia working at the Centre for Chechen Refugees. She graduated in 2005 from Robinson College, Cambridge University, with a B.A. (Hons) in History.[2]
