On October 1, 2007 Frédéric Donck became the Director of Public Policy for The Internet Society (ISOC). ISOC's website claims that it is an organisation promoting the internet for the benefit of everyone. A closer look at its funding sources would suggest that its interests lay more with promoting the interests of business than ordinary consumers. Prior to his role at ISOC he was Head of European Regulatory Affairs for Belgacom Group and a Member of the Executive Board of the European Association of Telecom Operators (ETNO). He had previously worked at the European Commission's DG for Information Society and DG Enterprise.[1]
