Giles Merritt, the Secretary General of Friends of Europe, and a former Financial Times staff writer and foreign correspondent, (who has also written for the the International Herald Tribune) is the Editor of Europe’s World. Geert Cami[1] is named in issue one as the Publisher, who added that Europe’s World received "widespread support from advertisers and partners drawn from companies, political parties, business associations, national and regional governments and NGOs" and that the magazine is published three times yearly by Friends of Europe, described as "an independent Brussels-based think tank for EU policy analysis and debate." Its partners are Boeing and generalitat de Catalunya, in the first issue advertisers were: Solvay, Microsoft, Umicore, Adecco, Chivas Regal, T - Systems, The EPP-ED Group, the Socialist Group in the European Parliament, Euractive.com, Pfizer, European Voice (The only newspaper with the inside view from Brussels" run by the Economist Group), Nestlé ('Through Nestlé technical and monetary support, a water system for 210,000 people in Eastern Ethiopia is being made sustainable for the long term'), EADS, Toyota. The address is given as Bibliothèque Solvay, Parc Léopold, Rue Belliard 137, B- 1040 Brussels.

A table of contents of the spring 2009 issue can be found at their website.[2]

The organisation argues that Europe’s World is the only independent Europe-wide policy journal:

...produced in association with some 100-plus leading European think tanks and academic institutions. Since its launch in 2005 it has become the premier ideas platform for new thinking on political, economic and social issues, read by over 100,000 of the most influential decision makers and opinion formers across Europe.

Although it states that it aims to "engage in a series of genuine and informed political debates which reach beyond the “Brussels village,”" this is arguably an idle threat, given the nature of the authors and the editorial board.

Nevertheless the authors, includes "Heads of State, corporate chiefs, top academics, leading NGO activists or policymakers", and it is argued that this is an activity which is "firmly cementing Europe’s World’s reputation as a platform for new thinking and ground-breaking ideas." EuropesWorld.org, their website, was designed to "further promote debate on the policy challenges facing Europe" and reproduce the articles published in Europe’s World, and reports from think tanks throughout Europe.

The starving and dispossessed of Europe (with access to a computer) can also view luminaries such as Michèle Alliot-Marie and Javier Solana, brandish the magazine at a banquet in the “Brussels village,” on this occasision at the 'Closing Ranks - The drive for greater European Security and Defence Capability conference' on November 21, 2005. The event was co organised by the Security and Defence Agenda, the Fondation Robert Schuman[3], and the Hanns Seidel Stiftung.
